| The HMCM William R. Charette Battalion is named for Master Chief Hospital Corpsman, William R. Charette, USN (Ret.) HMCM Charette, then HM3 Charette, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor on January 12, 1954, during the Korean war, for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepedity at the risk of his life, above and beyond the call of duty. HMCM Charette is alive and well, and lives in Florida. |
