Dear Parent, Prospective Cadet, or Prospective Adult Leader:
Thank you for your interest in the Naval Sea Cadet Program and in Charette Battalion. The following information will give you a brief overview of what you can do as a cadet:
The Naval Sea Cadet Corps is a nonprofit, nautically oriented, youth training and education organization, dedicated to developing the principles of patriotism, good citizenship, self-confidence, and to instill in young people a sense of duty, discipline and respect for self and others. Training is year-round, with a concentrated program during the summer months. After completion of two-week recruit training, a variety of opportunities are available including Airman training, FAA Ground School and shipboard training. Also available are Submarine seminars, medical training, leadership academies, and Seabee, Music and SEAL Training, to name just a few.
How much time will be required of you for the program? Battalion drills are one weekend per month, on both Saturday and Sunday, with a two-week training period in the summer. There are also Navy correspondence courses, which are done as part of the process of advancement. As you can see, there are many opportunities for you and it is a program that you would be proud to be a part of.
Our next Parent/Cadet briefing will be held on 20 APR 08 at 9:00am. The location will be Anacostia Naval Station, Washington,D.C.. Feel free to email with any questions you may have at nsccfrog@yahoo.com.
